Online Workshop: Food Sovereignty in Times of Crisis and War

Together with Julia Bar-Tal, in this workshop we will travel back into the past and, using the example of the first Syrian food network “The 15th Garden,” examine how hunger was normalized as a weapon and how grassroots strategies emerged to resist it. Drawing on this history, we will discuss together what this could mean for our future work—including within the food system in Germany.

Julia Bar-Tal is building an agroecology center in the Prignitz region. She is a farmer, former managing director of ABL Nord-Ost, co-founder of the Bündnis Junge Landwirtschaft (Young Farmers’ Alliance), a lecturer, and is active in various international networks on food sovereignty in war and crisis regions.
