WWOOF UK Taster Day in York | Oct 4, 2025

Are you curious about WWOOFing but not quite sure what to expect?

This year WWOOF UK is offering Taster Days so you can ‘try before you buy’. They have two Taster Days coming up and they are on Saturday 4th October 2025 – choose from a host based on the outskirts of York or a host in Swindon.

• You’ll have the opportunity to visit the host site for the day (typically 10:30am – 5pm or thereabouts) and speak with them about the WWOOF organisation in general and what a typical WWOOFing experience might look like, then get stuck into some hands-on practical activities along with fellow ‘taster dayers’.
• Both hosts are very experienced at welcoming WWOOF members onto their land and into their homes. Both hosts are experts in providing a fully immersive learning experience where you’ll stay on site and take part in the day-to-day organic food growing activities and live as part of the family.
• We think you’ll enjoy meeting others interested in starting out on their own WWOOFing journey, so we’ve designed the day to include plenty of opportunities for getting know each other!
• Lunch and drinks will be provided [we will be asking for your dietary and other requirements when you book]
• The cost is £15 per person.

** After the Taster Day you’ll be given a 40% discount code so if you decide to sign up as a member of WWOOF UK you’ll only pay £15 for a year’s membership (usual price is £25) **

Taster Day in York

An organic market garden on the outskirts of the historic city of York growing a wide range of fruit and vegetables plus ornamental plants. They have a 7 acre field nearby, including woodland planted 20 years ago, managed for wildlife plus a large orchard. They also run two allotments for additional fruit and veg, plus a few free range hens for eggs. Wide range of vegetables grown throughout the year on a mixture of row and bed systems. Large greenhouse and polytunnel used for veg. production throughout the year. Many varieties of apple, plus pears, plums etc, plus extensive range of soft fruit.
